What is an Amberjack

As the name implies, the amberjack is a member of the jack species. These fish are very good to eat, and you can find them on most all of the seafood menus in town. They can grow quite large with 40+ pound fish caught regularly and 70+ pound fish caught on occasion. Amberjack are world renowned for their fight and can easily embarrass the toughest of fishermen. The Legalities of Amberjack Fishing

After having almost no amberjack season for the last couple of years, we are really excited about the upcoming spring season. The entire month of May anglers will be allowed 1 fish per person with a minimum size limit of 34 inches. The spring season will close on June 1st and a fall season will begin on August 1st and run thru October 31st(hopefully). We recommend at least an 8 hour trip to target amberjack. Of course trips of 10 or 12 hours will often result in larger and more plentiful fish.
